INDEPENDENT EDUCATION ADVISORY

Helping schools make international UK qualifications work in practice

Ambrose Education works with school leaders and education organisations to strengthen the conditions that help international UK qualifications succeed in practice.

We help leaders understand whether chosen qualification pathways support student progression, and what needs to be strengthened, simplified or realigned so teachers can deliver with confidence and students have the best chance of success.

AREAS OF SUPPORT

Ambrose supports schools at key moments: when leaders are considering a new route, preparing to implement it, or looking to strengthen how an existing programme works in practice.

For schools and education organisations

  • Schools considering or preparing to introduce international UK qualifications.

  • Schools already delivering and looking to strengthen confidence, consistency and outcomes.

  • Education groups and organisations working with schools.

HOW STRONG PATHWAYS WORK

Creating the conditions for student success

International UK qualifications offer schools valuable flexibility, but that flexibility works best when the pathway is clearly understood and well supported.

Success depends on more than choosing the right qualification. It is built through a clear roadmap that connects leadership decisions, teaching confidence, learning expectations, progression aims and practical delivery.

Ambrose helps leaders align pathway choices with students’ strengths, needs and progression aims.

Operational reviews help leaders see what is working and where delivery can become more consistent.

Focused teacher support strengthens expectations, practical guidance and relevant professional development.

WHY IT MATTERS

Strong pathways create shared clarity

When a qualification programme is well aligned and well supported, the benefits reach across the school. Students have clearer routes forward, teachers are better supported to deliver, and leaders have a stronger basis for planning, communication and improvement.

1. Student Outcomes

Strong implementation helps students access the progression routes their qualifications are designed to support.

2. Staff Confidence

Clear expectations, practical support and coherent planning help teachers deliver with greater assurance.

3. Institutional Reputation

Consistent delivery strengthens trust in the school’s judgement, planning and educational offer.

4. Value from investment

Training, resources and staff time have greater impact when they are aligned with a clear implementation plan.

5. Confidence

Clear communication helps families understand the pathway, its value and how students are supported.

6. Long-term sustainability

Strong foundations and processes help programmes develop with confidence over time.

ABOUT AMBROSE

Independent, experienced and school-focused

Genuinely independent

Ambrose is independent of awarding bodies. That independence keeps the advice focused on fit, context and what will help the pathway work well for the school.

Ready to listen first

Every school works within its own context, identity, and ambitions. Ambrose begins by listening carefully, so advice is grounded in how the pathway is actually being experienced by leaders, teachers, exams officers, and students.

Practical and actionable

Ambrose turns insight into clear next steps. Each conversation, review or report is designed to help leaders make better decisions, focus effort where it matters, and move forward with confidence.

Deep Systems Knowledge

Ambrose draws on 25+ years working across the structures that shape international UK qualifications. That experience brings insight into the rules, flexibility, and implementation choices that help pathways work well in practice.

ABOUT SIMON

More than 25 years in international school qualifications

Simon Higgins

Simon Higgins

Simon Higgins founded Ambrose after a career spanning senior roles at Cambridge International and the British Council, working across the development, support and global delivery of international school qualifications.

Much of his work has been directly school-facing, supporting school owners, leaders, teachers, and exams officers, to understand qualification pathways, strengthen implementation and create practical roadmaps for success.

That experience gives Simon a clear understanding of how awarding body structures, guidance and flexibility work in practice, and how schools can use them purposefully in their own context.

He set up Ambrose to provide independent, experienced and practical advice that helps schools make confident pathway decisions and create the conditions for student success.
